What is SelfTape Studio?
SelfTape Studio is a browser-based tool that helps actors prepare, rehearse, record, and submit self-tape auditions — all from one app. No downloads, no apps to install.
Do I need to create an account?
You can rehearse and record without an account. You only need to sign up when you're ready to save your work or send a tape to your agent.
What file formats can I upload?
We accept PDF, Word (.docx), and plain text files. Your script is automatically structured — characters are identified and dialogue is organised so you can start rehearsing.
How does the reader work?
Once your script is loaded, choose your character and pick a voice for the reader. The reader speaks every other part so you can rehearse naturally — just like having a scene partner.
Is recording free?
Yes. Rehearsal and recording are completely free with no limits. You can record as many takes as you need. You only pay when you submit a tape to your agent.
How much does it cost to send a tape?
£4.99 per individual submission, or £9.99 per month for unlimited submissions. There are no other fees, tokens, or hidden charges.
What does my agent receive?
Your agent receives a private streaming link via email. They can watch your tape in their browser — no downloads or accounts needed. Links expire after 7 or 30 days depending on your plan.
Can I edit my video?
Yes. SelfTape Studio includes a built-in video editor where you can trim, cut, and adjust colour — all in the browser.
What browsers and devices are supported?
SelfTape Studio works in any modern browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) on desktop, laptop, tablet, or phone. Camera and microphone access are required for recording.
Is my data secure?
Yes. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Your videos are stored securely and are only accessible via your private account or time-limited sharing links.
Do you use my performances to train AI?
No. Your scripts and recordings are yours. We don't use your content to train any models, and we don't share it with anyone. You can delete everything at any time.
